Home Free sing country with no instruments at all — five voices doing the work a band would. It started in Mankato in 2001 with three singers, among them the brothers Chris and Adam Rupp, and the name came off a boat belonging to a grandfather who helped pay the early bills. They won the fourth season of The Sing-Off in 2013 with an arrangement of Hunter Hayes's I Want Crazy, worth $100,000 and a Sony contract, and have since kept up a schedule of roughly 200 shows a year.
