Holy F**k have made electronic-sounding music since 2004 without a laptop in sight. The Toronto band builds it from live instrumentation and things that are not instruments at all — a 35 mm film synchronizer, toy keyboards, toy phaser guns — which Pitchfork described as making modern electronic music without any of its techniques. Their second album, LP, was up for the Juno for Alternative Album of the Year and shortlisted for the Polaris Music Prize. NME named them the third best new act at Glastonbury in 2007.
