Hank Williams Jr.

Hank Williams Jr. is an American country musician, born Randall Hank Williams in Shreveport, Louisiana in 1949 and the son of country pioneer Hank Williams. Nicknamed Bocephus, he forged his own identity by fusing country with rock, blues and Southern rock, a shift crystallised on albums such as Family Tradition (1979). Enduring anthems including "A Country Boy Can Survive" and "All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over Tonight," the latter reworked as his long-running Monday Night Football theme, made him a defining outlaw-country star. Between 1979 and 1992 he released twenty-one gold-certified albums, and he won a Grammy and four Emmys before his induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2020. On stage he remains a rowdy, crowd-rousing showman.
