Grupo Duelo

Duelo, often billed as Grupo Duelo, are a Mexican-American norteño band from Roma, Texas, founded in 1996 by vocalist Oscar Iván Treviño and accordionist Dimas López. Built on the accordion-and-bajo-sexto core of regional Mexican music, the group helped define a smoother, more pop-leaning strain of the style, pairing relaxed rhythms with contemporary, romantic lyrics. Their commercial reach became clear in 2009, when Necesito Más de Ti entered the Billboard Top Latin Albums and Regional Mexican Albums charts at number one; the following year Solamente Tú repeated the feat, topping both charts again. Across three decades the band has remained a fixture of the norteño circuit, drawing crowds throughout Texas, Mexico and the wider Latin touring market.
