Gabriel Espi

Gabriel Espi is a singer, guitarist, songwriter and producer based in Cape Town. He grew up surrounded by instruments and sounds and works intuitively, following a song as it grows through playing it to audiences and other musicians. His own discography — the Intimations EP of 2021 and the Many Moons LP of 2023 — is experimental and daring while staying rooted in the emotional journey of the song, and the last seven years have been spent refining that voice with musicians from around South Africa. His writing draws on music from Latin America, especially Brazil, alongside jazz, hip-hop and folk.
