Evanescence are an American rock band formed in Little Rock, Arkansas, in 1994 by singer and pianist Amy Lee and guitarist Ben Moody. Marrying alternative and gothic metal with classical and symphonic textures, they broke through with 2003's Fallen and its inescapable single "Bring Me to Life," alongside the ballad "My Immortal." That debut helped win two Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist, and their 2011 self-titled album entered the Billboard 200 at number one. With roughly 32 million albums sold, they rank among the best-selling hard rock and metal acts. Live, the band is known for its scale and force, at times touring with full orchestras, and remains a fixture on stages and festival bills worldwide.
