Electric Six are an American rock band formed in Detroit, Michigan in 1996, originally under the name The Wildbunch. Fronted by Dick Valentine, the sole constant member who writes behind a rotating cast of stage names, they fuse rock, disco, garage, new wave and punk into a deliberately genre-blurring sound. They broke through in 2003 with the singles "Danger! High Voltage," which reached number two on the UK chart, and "Gay Bar," both drawn from the debut album Fire. Prolific to a fault, the band has issued around twenty studio albums. Their tongue-in-cheek songs and relentless touring across North America, Europe, Australia and the UK have made them a durable cult live act with an especially devoted British following.
