Drag Talk are an L.A. band who grew out of guitarist Ross O'Carroll's home demos during the pandemic in 2021, and whose debut album Drink The Ocean came out on MNRK Heavy. They set exquisite shoegaze guitars and Britpop melodicism against Jutty Taylor's genre-fluid vocals — "I feel like we're hardcore punk dudes who love Oasis," as O'Carroll puts it. The members' histories are long and intertwined: Taylor and drummer Hayden Scott played together in the Grammy-winning Swedish rock band Ghost, O'Carroll and fellow guitarist Matt Ripp Bennett were schoolmates in Hawaii who had somehow never shared a band, and third guitarist Neil Popkin played alongside Ripp Bennett in War Tapes. The debut single "Egyptian Flesh" arrived in 2022, the Dogs EP the following year, and Rosy Crown in 2024.
