David Ramirez is an American Americana singer-songwriter, born in Houston, Texas, in 1983 and long based in Austin. Known for a deep, reverberant baritone and songs steeped in themes of sorrow, love and redemption, he built his career independently, self-releasing his debut album American Soil in 2009 and Apologies in 2012. His 2015 record Fables, produced by Noah Gundersen and recorded in Seattle, earned wide critical acclaim, and in 2020 the Austin Chronicle named him its Songwriter of the Year. He continued the run with the 2024 album All the Not So Gentle Reminders. A hard-touring performer rooted in the Texas songwriter tradition, Ramirez has become a fixture of the American folk and Americana circuit, prized live for the intimacy and gravity of his delivery.
