Darden Smith is an American singer-songwriter based in Austin, Texas, working in a folk and Americana vein since his 1986 debut album Native Soil. He was later named the inaugural Songwriter-in-Residence at the University of Texas at Austin and co-founded the veterans' programme SongwritingWith:Soldiers.
