Covenant

Covenant are a Swedish electronic band formed in Helsingborg in 1986, working in electronic body music (EBM) and synthpop. Led by vocalist Eskil Simonsson alongside Daniel Jonasson and Daniel Myer, they emerged as one of the genre's defining acts, their 1996 album Sequencer becoming a lasting club favourite. In 1998 they won a trademark dispute against a Norwegian black-metal band then also called Covenant, which prompted that group to respell its name as The Kovenant. Across nine or more studio albums since the mid-1990s, Covenant have moved from stark, aggressive EBM toward more melodic synth-pop while remaining a fixture of the international electronic scene. They are known as a committed touring act, headlining festivals and clubs across Europe and North America.
