Chris Mitchell is an American saxophonist working chiefly in smooth jazz, born in 1986. His main instrument is the soprano saxophone, though he also plays alto and tenor sax and occasionally guitar, blending classic jazz foundations with modern, soulful arrangements. He gained wider recognition with his third album, The Chris Mitchell Experience, in 2013, and his 2023 record Saxy Squad drew praise from reviewers and fans for its distinctive jazz and smooth-jazz fusion. A member of the Recording Academy, he has built a devoted following among jazz listeners. Known on the road for his Begging For Sax Tour, he performs across US cities including Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, Portland and San Diego, where his expressive, sax-forward sets have become his calling card as a live performer.
