Chicane is the English electronic musician, DJ and producer Nicholas Bracegirdle, born in Chalfont St Giles in 1971 and active since 1994. Working across trance, house, ambient, balearic and chill-out styles, he broke through with 1996's "Offshore," which reached number 12 in the UK, before the Máire Brennan collaboration "Saltwater" hit number 6 and "Don't Give Up," featuring Bryan Adams, entered the UK chart at number one. His debut album Far from the Maddening Crowds is regarded as a seminal trance release, and the follow-up Behind the Sun went gold in the UK; he has released ten studio albums, most recently Trampolines in 2024, on his own Modena Records. Performing with a full live band and rotating guests, he has played Glastonbury and Creamfields and staged an orchestral version of his debut at the Royal Festival Hall.
