Bheki Khoza is a South African guitarist whose playing moves between Afro-jazz, blues, traditional African influences and contemporary jazz, and who is celebrated for a distinctive left-handed technique. He was one of the main forces behind Bambata, the project he made with Sipho Sithole, Philangezwi Bongani Nkwanyana and Mathufela Zuma to fuse Zulu traditional rhythms, amahubo and maskanda guitar with African and mainstream jazz alongside elements of hip hop, rap, reggae and kwaito. Its first album, 1906, was nominated in three categories at the South African Music Awards in 2001, and two more followed: ukhandampondo in 2002 and Abashokobezi 1906–2006 in 2006. He tours as the Bheki Khoza Trio.
