Belinda Carlisle is an American singer born in Los Angeles in 1958, first known as the lead vocalist of the Go-Go's, the pioneering all-female band she co-founded in 1978 whose 1981 debut Beauty and the Beat helped carry new wave into the American mainstream. Going solo, she topped charts on both sides of the Atlantic with 1987's "Heaven Is a Place on Earth" and scored further hits including "Mad About You" and "I Get Weak." She was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the Go-Go's in 2021. Famous for performing barefoot, Carlisle remains a beloved live presence, revisiting both her solo catalogue and her band's era-defining songs on stage.
