Bastille are a British band formed in London in 2010, fronted by singer-songwriter Dan Smith alongside Kyle Simmons, Will Farquarson and Chris “Woody” Wood. Their 2013 debut Bad Blood topped the UK chart and produced “Pompeii”, a globe-conquering single that became one of the most-streamed songs of its era. The band's cinematic, sample-laced approach — weaving film and television dialogue into widescreen pop — carried through later albums Wild World, Doom Days and Give Me the Future. They won the BRIT Award for British Breakthrough Act in 2014 and earned a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist, selling more than 11 million records along the way.
