Bambara are an American post-punk band formed in Athens, Georgia, in 2007 by twin brothers Reid and Blaze Bateh with bassist William Brookshire, who had played together since high school before relocating to Brooklyn. Their music welds gothic rock, noise rock and punk blues to Reid Bateh's baritone, Southern Gothic storytelling, drawing comparisons to Nick Cave. Across albums including Shadow on Everything (2018), Stray (2020) and Birthmarks (2025) they have built a devoted cult following; Shadow on Everything was named a favourite record of 2018 by Idles frontman Joe Talbot. Fleshed out to a larger band on stage, Bambara channel their noir atmosphere into intense, cinematic live performances.
