Hykeem Jamaal Carter Jr., born on 22 October 2000 and known as Baby Keem, is an American rapper and record producer. Born in Carson, California, he was raised between Long Beach and Las Vegas by his grandmother until he was eight, and thinks of her as a second mother. He came to notice in the late 2010s through his work on Black Panther: The Album in 2018 by his cousin Kendrick Lamar and on Beyoncé's The Lion King: The Gift the following year, then broke out with the 2019 sleeper hit "Orange Soda". His debut album The Melodic Blue reached number five on the Billboard 200 in 2021, and its single "Family Ties" won Best Rap Performance at the Grammy Awards.
