Atif Aslam is a Pakistani playback singer, songwriter and actor, born in Wazirabad in 1983, whose style fuses Pakistani pop with Sufi rock and a distinctive vocal-belting technique. He co-founded the band Jal in 2002 and broke out with the single "Aadat" in 2003 before building a hugely successful solo and Bollywood playback career in Urdu, Punjabi and other languages. Tracks such as "Tajdar-e-Haram," "Jeena Jeena," "Dil Diyan Gallan" and "Tere Sang Yaara" have amassed enormous online audiences, and his Coke Studio Pakistan performances are among the platform's most watched. Awarded the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz in 2008, Aslam is one of South Asia's most bankable concert draws, filling large venues across Pakistan, India and the diaspora.
