Arno Carstens, born on 12 March 1972, sang lead for the Springbok Nude Girls before a solo career that has collected awards for Best Rock Album, Best Alternative Album and Song of the Year. He has headlined every major South African music festival and played Glastonbury, the Isle of Wight Festival, V Festival, T in the Park and Hard Rock Calling, touring with the Rolling Stones, U2, Simple Minds, Bryan Ferry and the Police, and he is lead vocalist and co-writer on three tracks of Mike + The Mechanics' 2011 album The Road. He is a fine artist as well: he began working in oil on canvas in 2007 and held his first solo exhibition at the Lovell Gallery in Woodstock in 2012.
