Anastacia Lyn Newkirk, known by her first name alone, is an American singer-songwriter born on 17 September 1968 who has released nine albums and sold over 50 million records, collecting 227 gold and platinum certifications. She calls her style "sprock" — soul, pop and rock fused — and her tone has been described as "the little lady with the big voice". She began in 1983 as a dancer and in 1990 as a backing vocalist; "I'm Outta Love" arrived in 2000. "Left Outside Alone" held number one across European charts for 15 weeks. Her success has been overwhelmingly European rather than American.
