Martha Alicia Villarreal Esparza, known simply as Alicia Villarreal, is a Mexican singer born on 31 August 1971. She played in several bands in Monterrey before becoming the lead singer of Grupo Límite in 1994, and left after nearly eight years of success to go solo, releasing her first solo album, Soy Lo Prohibido, in 2001. Her work has brought a Grammy nomination and two Latin Grammy Awards — one from her years with the band, one as a solo artist.
