Alex K is the stage name of Alex Karbouris, an Australian DJ, producer, songwriter and singer born on 29 November 1979 who began spinning on Australia's first dance station, New Wave FM. One of the pioneers of the high-energy "NRG" and bouncy house sound, he signed to Central Station Records in 1996 and reports sales of more than 600,000 albums worldwide. His commercially successful Ultimate NRG compilations found a particularly strong following in the United Kingdom, and he has remixed or written for over 200 artists, among them Kylie Minogue, the Backstreet Boys, Delta Goodrem and Sisqó. From 2008 he took his energetic sets on the road as part of the annual Clubland tour package, a natural home for his up-tempo, crowd-driving club style.
