Alex Amen is an American indie-folk singer-songwriter from the Texas Gulf Coast, now based in California. He took up piano at four and studied for years with a Houston jazz pianist before turning to guitar in his teens after discovering Nirvana and Neil Young. At eighteen he moved west to study filmmaking, dropped out after a semester and joined the Dittman Family Commune. His debut EP, The Zorthian Tapes, arrived in 2025, followed by his first album, Sun of Amen, on ATO Records in June 2026. Critics trace his wistful, nostalgic craft to John Denver, Gordon Lightfoot and Harry Nilsson. Amen played the Austin City Limits festival in 2025, where he was named an artist not to miss, and continues to build a following as a live performer.
