Alewya is a British singer, songwriter and producer raised in West London, born in Saudi Arabia to an Egyptian father and an Ethiopian mother. Her music folds African and Arab influences into a restless mix of electronic, dance and soul. She emerged with 2020's "Sweating" and followed it with the 2021 EP Panther in Mode, working along the way with drummer-producer Moses Boyd on "The Code." That year NME named her among its essential emerging artists, and she guested on Little Simz's "Where's My Lighter" before touring the UK with her. A multidisciplinary artist who also sculpts and illustrates, Alewya has built a reputation as a magnetic, physical live performer.
