Aimee Mann

Aimee Mann is an American singer-songwriter whose literate, clear-eyed writing has made her one of the most quietly respected voices in alternative rock. She first broke through in the 1980s fronting Boston new-wave band 'Til Tuesday, whose “Voices Carry” became a top-10 hit, before going solo in 1990. Her songs for the 1999 film Magnolia — chief among them “Save Me” — drew Academy Award and Grammy nominations and carried her sardonic, character-driven storytelling to a wider audience. She has since won Grammys, including Best Folk Album for 2017's Mental Illness. Mann's catalogue trades in dark subjects — alienation, addiction, the walking wounded — rendered with dry wit and formalist pop craft.
