Agnes Obel is a Danish singer, songwriter and pianist, born in Copenhagen in 1980 and long based in Berlin. Her hushed, neo-classical chamber pop first surfaced on 2010's Philharmonics, a debut that went six-times platinum in Denmark and swept five Danish Music Awards, including Best Album and Best Debut. She followed it with Aventine (2013), Citizen of Glass (2016) — named IMPALA Album of the Year — and Myopia (2020), building a sound of layered piano, wraithlike harmonies and rare instruments such as the Trautonium. Her music has featured in series including Dark, Big Little Lies and The Last of Us. On stage she conjures the same eerie, otherworldly atmosphere, performing her songs with delicate precision.
